SUMMARY:Build and Fly
DESCRIPTION:Session 2 of 2026 \nWe will be continuing improving on our full size youth built flying simulator. The day will focus on finishing Installing a flaps handle\, moving the CPU back\, getting side monitors connected and routing cables. We will have other projects and activities going on as well. \nBuild & Fly is targeted at youth 10-15 but will be open to all youth. Mentors will make every effort to have age appropriate projects available for younger persons. \nBuild & Fly programs are always free for youth. \n*On a very very rare occasion a nominal fee may be requested for something special that will go home with the youth. Plenty of notice will be given for any projects like this. In this case\, financial aid for a youth can be discussed if needed. \n  \nBuild and Fly -Schedule for 2026 \n2/15\, 3/1\, 3/15\, 3/29\, 4/12\, 4/26\, 5/10\, 5/24\, 6/14\, 6/28\, 7/12\, 7/26\, 8/9\, 8/23\,  any scheduling for September through the end of the year will be special scheduled projects. \nProgram times will be from 3:30pm to 5:00pm with dinner after 5. \nFood will be planned for after every session\, a donation is accepted however not expected.

SUMMARY:Build and Fly -METAR Maps
DESCRIPTION:  \nBuilding METAR Maps for our youth to take home. \n“A METAR (METeorological Aerodrome Report) is a standardized\, hourly\, or special aviation routine weather report used by pilots and meteorologists to determine current airport weather conditions. It provides critical\, real-time data—including wind\, visibility\, clouds\, temperature\, and pressure—essential for safe\, informed flight planning and “go/no-go” decisions.” https://www.weather.gov/asos/METAR.html \n****Our METAR maps while drawing correct and accurate data from the weather reporting services should not be used for actual flight planning purposes. **** \n  \n++This is one of the few projects that we request a small donation. We are requesting a $15.00 donation per computer box that Mentor James Breazeal has built for the youth.    Donations are exactly that. The chapter will fund any youth that can use assistance with the cost of the box. ++ \nDonations can be made directly to James on Sunday via Cash\, Check or Venmo. \n  \n  \nWe will have kits for 20 youth to build on Sunday. \n  \nThe project will require punching holes in foam core and the maps\, running wire\, soldering\, gluing. The Mentors will have prefabricated wood frame parts for the kids to assemble. \n  \nPlease reach out to the build and fly email if you have any questions \nSee you Sunday! \n  \nBuild & Fly is targeted at youth 10-15 but will be open to all youth.
