Young Eagles program.

Please go to the CHAPTER CALENDAR and look for programs titled “Build and Fly.”

EAA105 Youth Build and Fly

PURPOSE

The purpose of the EAA105 youth Build and Fly program is to provide youth with opportunities to gain knowledge and experience through aviation related activities.

MEETING TIMES AND LOCATION

The EAA105 youth Build and Fly program meets on the second and fourth Sunday afternoons each month at 3:30-5:00 in the EAA meeting room.

ACTIVITIES

The EAA105 youth Build and Fly program is loosely structured with projects including:

  • Constructing and operating a sit-in flight simulator
  • Operating an RC flight simulator
  • Building sheet foam free-flight and RC aircraft
  • Flying RC aircraft
  • Building and flying air powered rockets
  • Building METAR maps

YOUTH PARTICIPANTS

The EAA105 youth Build and Fly program is aimed at youth ages 11-19, but younger participants are welcome.

Older participants are welcome to join as adult mentors.

MENTORS

The only requirement we have for mentors is a willingness to work with the youth in a positive environment and to pass a youth protection program screening.

Mentors are welcome to either assist with one of the existing projects or organize and lead a new project.

FEES

There are no participation fees for either the youth or the mentors, the program is funded through the generous support of EAA chapter 105.

ATTENDANCE

We recognize that both the youth and the mentors have many commitments in their lives, regular participation is encouraged but not required.

FOOD AND SOCIALIZING

After most sessions hamburgers and cheese quesadillas or pizza are available for those who participated.

Young Eagle Rallies will be held after the 2025 June, July, August, and September Pancake Breakfast at the Twin Oaks Airpark EAA 105 Hangar G1. Register your child (ages 9-17) online at EAAchapters.org. Parents will sign our Young Eagle Registration iPad at the event before the flight.
