Breakfast Report

We served 172 at  the November,  2024 breakfast and 136 at the December, 2024 breakfast.

Monthly Chapter Meeting Report

The October meeting was a presentation by Bill Jepson on the Mazda Rotary engine speed reduction unit,  the November meeting was the annual chapter board and officer election and pie auction, and the December meeting was our holiday banquet at the Columbia Aviation Association clubhouse on the Aurora Airport.

The program for the regular second Thursday of the month chapter meeting on Thursday January 9, 2025 will be a short presentation by Kevin Johnson on the Recreational Aviation Foundation followed by a presentation by Chris Riedener and Dick Van Grunsven on George Bogardus.

2024 Recap

The chapter conducted twelve monthly First Saturday of the Month Pancake and Grits Breakfasts, four regularly scheduled Young Eagle Events, a Poker Run, and a Flyout to the Scio/Gillette Field Chicken Dinner.  We held our aforementioned pie auction and holiday banquet. We also had a well-received presence at the Port of Portland’s Hillsboro Airport Block Party.

The chapter reorganized and improved its G1 and G3 hangars at Twin Oaks to facilitate our monthly chapter meetings, Young Eagle Events, and Build and Fly Program. The C120 project was sold to a new owner who will continue utilizing EAA105 volunteers to help him complete the restoration in the EAA105 Hangar G1.

The chapter also developed a growing Build and Fly Program for youth, and had two of its youth flight scholarship recipients, Kellan Oberhelman and Kristofer Thieme, obtain their private pilot licenses. Our end of year Youth Scholarship Matching Donation Drive was a success, adding to our funds to provide youth flight training scholarships. It is fair to say that 2024 was a good year for EAA Chapter 105, and we hope to do as well in 2025.
