The fact that we were unable to hold in-person meetings throughout most of 2020 meant that the normal events that are counted on to drive income for the chapter, which we use to fund our operations and pay rent on facilities, was cut off. As a result, we ended the year with a nearly empty operating fund. We put out the call for people who would be interested in making a contribution to the chapter’s general fund (EAA Chapter 105 is a non-profit charitable organization).
When we put the word our in late December one donor, who asked to remain anonymous, offered to contribute $5,000 as a matching-funds challenge to other members and people who might also be willing to contribute. As a result, the membership really stepped up and we received contributions to fully take advantage of the match, and then some! That means we have more than $10,000 in operating funds to start the year, which takes us from concerned to being a bit more relaxed for now. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED!
We hope to be able to start holding in-person events again before too long. Thank you for your continued support and please stay healthy and safe!
