Breakfast Report
At the April breakfast, we only served 78 adults, 19 kids, and 19 comps(volunteers) for a total of 116. Yes the weather was awful, but the crew had a great time.
Monthly Chapter Meeting Report
Did you know that auto gas has two different blends: a winter blend that is more volatile than the summer blend? I had no idea, and I’m a retired attorney, and everyone knows lawyers know everything.
I was enlightened at the April chapter meeting in an excellent presentation by past EAA105 president Ron Singh. Before his retirement from the state of Oregon he was head of ODOT’s surveying, drones, and engineering automation programs. He and his wife now spend their time between their home on the Independence Airpark and their family farm in India. They became aware of the different blends of auto gas after they had the Rotax engine in their RV-12is stumble and almost quit over the Cascades last June.
We had thirty people turnout for Ron’s presentation of what he learned about seasonal blends of automotive fuel (mogas) used in aircraft and the risks associated with using a winter blend in warm temperatures. He has made it available on YouTube, and I urge everyone to watch it NOW as we are entering the Danger Zone. It may save your life.
