Gary “Red” Ellis Standley of Hillsboro, Oregon died on March 18th, 2023 at 81. Gary was born March 7, 1942, in Tillamook, son of Ellis & Margaret Standley. He was raised in both Tillamook and Forest Grove, graduating from Forest Grove High School in 1960. He entered the U.S. Navy in that same year, serving until 1966.
During his time in the military, he served aboard the USS Monticello and the USS Bon Homme Richard in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Okinawa. After leaving the Navy, he was employed at Damerow Ford & Colletti Chrysler Plymouth before marrying Susan Henshaw Plamondon in 1970.

Gary, Susan, and Susan’s daughter, Elise lived in Hillsboro, when Gary began work at Tektronix. In 1974, he and Susan were blessed with a daughter, Amy. Later he also was employed by Intel, Fujitsu, and Phlogiston before retiring from Radisys. Susan passed away in 2007, and Gary was fortunate to meet and marry another amazing woman.
He and Mary Casley Listy were married in 2010, enjoying 12 happy years before his death. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed drag racing, classic cars, flying, and building experimental aircraft.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Elise Braun and her husband, Dale; brother, Charlie Standley and his wife Pam; sister, Donna Woodard; sister, Linda Downs and her husband, Ted; sister, Jan Boettcher and her husband, Paul; grandson, Andrew Braun and his wife, Whitney; grandson, Jeremy Braun; grandson, Micah Johnson; grandson, Gabriel Johnson; grandson, Isaiah Johnson, son-in-law, Thom Johnson; step son, Robert Listy and his wife, Angela; step son, Eric Listy and his wife, Heather & step grandsons, Kegan Bako-Listy, Connor Corbin, Ryder Listy, Noah Listy, Saxton Listy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was pre-deceased by his first wife, Susan; daughter, Amy Johnson; sister, Karen Courtney; and brother, Roger Standley.
Although Gary was known for his fiery red hair, in his youth, & having a temper to match, he will also be remembered as a man who loved his God, his family, and his country.

Donations in his memory can be made to either Meals on Wheels or Day Spring Christian Fellowship in Banks, Oregon.
